Upon my recent escape from a career in retail I have found that I have a lot of time on my hands. Instead of whiling my life away on the internet reading feminist blogs and cupcake recipes, I have decided to be slightly more proactive. On hiatus from steady employment, I have been doing a lot of thinking about what I should be doing with myself. What am I good at besides retail management? Well, there’s cupcakes. I love to bake, but let’s be honest here, that is one supremely over saturated market. Macaroons are a burgeoning trend, but they don’t have sprinkles and frosting. What’s the point?

There has always been writing. I love to write! But about what? Tweeting everyday musings does not a writer make.  Again, what am I good at? The answer slapped on the back of the head as I was temping in an executive office not long ago. I am a mad scientist when it comes to bargain shopping. There is not one outfit in my closet that has cost anywhere near $100. And personally? I think I am pretty good at it. No, I do not resemble a single page from [insert fashion magazine of choice]. No, I do not have a different outfit for everyday of the year. But I do have a decent fashion sense, and I know how to shop on an extreme budget. In the words of Tim Gunn, I “make it work”.

This blog will be filled with all of my little secrets and shopping tips and absolutely no use of ridiculous trendy made up words like “recessionista” or “bargainista”. It’s all me, it’s all useful, and it’s all for you!

Also, if you feel you need to know anything else about me, the above photo is what the inside of my brain looks like.
